Berbers
Believed to have descended from the Neolithic peoples who migrated to northern Tunisia from southern Europe between 6,000BC and 2,500BC, the Berbers are regarded as the indigenous people not only of Tunisia, but in all of North Africa. Archaeological discoveries suggest they lead a predominantly nomadic tribal life, and were well-established pastoralists by the time the Phoenicians arrived in 1,100BC.
